The "Safeway for U" $10 Rule

• As a Safeway for U member, you are eligible for a free item every month (up to a $10 value). These are usually located in the "Rewards" gallery of the app. If you don't clip it, you lose it!

Gas Rewards at Chevron/Texaco

• For every 100 points you earn ($100 spent), you get a 10-cent per gallon discount.
• The Hack: Look for "4x Gas Rewards" items in the Weekly Ad (usually on gift cards or specific laundry detergents). This can easily save you $1.00 per gallon at the pump.

Rainchecks are Gold

• If a sale item (especially a $5 Friday special) is out of stock, go to the Customer Service desk. Safeway is one of the few retailers that still reliably issues paper rainchecks, allowing you to get the sale price even after the ad expires.

Senior & Military Discounts

• While many national chains have cut these programs, many Safeway divisions (like NorCal and the Mid-Atlantic) still offer a 10% discount on the first Wednesday of every month for seniors (55+) and active military.
• Safeway distinguishes itself through a full-service experience paired with a highly sophisticated loyalty ecosystem. Unlike Aldi or Lidl, Safeway is a one-stop shop with high-end specialty departments.

• The Weekly Ad shows the Club Price, but the app might show you a Personalized Price that is even lower. Users should always check the app barcode scanner while in the aisle to see if they have a hidden "Just for U" discount.

• Safeway frequently runs 4x Fuel Points events on gift cards.
